We are RoboGals. We are a volunteering society whose aim is to teach young girls and minorities all about STEM subjects! RoboGals is an international society with groups in 30+ countries around the world. we have collectivly taught over 100,000 girls and counting! We run engineering and technology workshops, free-of-charge, in our local community, focusing on encouraging girls from primary to secondary school to explore an interest, as well as cultivate self-confidence, in these areas. Find out more about the worldwide robogals community here: robogals.org Robogals is open to everyone! Membership is free and training to become a volunteer is provided without you needing any experience. For the school visits you will need a DBS check, however this can be obtained through the SU at no charge There is a gender disparity in the STEM workforce as well as at higher education across the globe: Australia: Women make up 28% of the STEM workforce in Australia, with only 14% in engineering The aim of robogals is to get more young girls insprired about careers in STEM fields, in order to promote a culture of inclusion and diversity in engineering. Robogals socials are a great way to meet likeminded people who want to inspire the next generation to acheive greatness. Previous socials have included movie nights, lego sessions and quiz nights. All with free pizza of course :) Here are some pictures of a previous give it a go session.
