Wild swimming is the act of swimming in untamed waterways, such as lakes, rivers, and the sea. Swimming in these cold waters is said to be beneficial to the body, improving metabolism and lowering blood pressure (among many other things), and also to the mind, often reported as having meditative and anti-depressant effects. It is a very social activity and all our committee agree we feel a lot better after a good swim! Alongside these potential health benefits, wild swimming is an excellent way to get out of the city and see the beautiful countryside we are lucky to have right on Bristol’s doorstep (before returning to the city for a well-earned pub trip!)

We offer:
All we ask is that you are a confident swimmer, or that if you are not, you get in touch with our committee (details below) so we can ensure your safety at our swims and find a way for you to still engage with our society.
Before joining us for your first swim, we ask that you read an article about safety when wild swimming. To access a membership, you will have to answer some questions about this article to show you have engaged with it.
