About Us

Wildlife Filmmaking Society is for the countless passionate wildlife filmmakers here at Bristol, the wildlife-filmmaking capital of the world often known in the industry as 'The Green Hollywood'.

Our aim is to help the University live up to its reputation of being the ‘go to’ place for budding young wildlife filmmakers.

What Do We Do?

For Only £8 a year you can get access to...

 

Trips - Weekly trips across Bristol and the UK to try and find local wildlife. This includes the likes of Foxes, Red Deer, Puffins, Beavers, Wild Boar, Kingfishers, Barn Owl, Peregrine and many more!
 
Talks and Screenings - Showcasing the latest natural history productions with talks from industry professionals as well as cinema screenings to give you the chance to engage directly with this incredible industry.

Workshops - A chance to get hands-on and enhance your skills, ranging from Camera Operation and Macro Photography to Storyboarding and Editing! Each Workshop will be led by a member of Committee, Alumni or Industry professional to give you the best advice out there. 

 

Camera Equipment - We have a vast amount of society kit you can borrow to use on trips and workshops so don't feel pressure to splash out on a brand new camera to get involved! Our kit ranges from Cameras, Longer Lenses and Tripods to even Ghillie Suits and can be hired for free via our Kit Secretary (Contact Info Down Below!!). 

Productions - As well as hosting short film competitions amongst our members, you'll get the chance to join us in the production of our whole society films. Be it a short film or a longer documentary, you can contribute to the films showcased on our Society YouTube Channel and get your work seen by everyone!

Socials - Our weekly socials are infamous and range from Dress Ups to Pub Quizes. Come and join the wildfilm family and get to know the members you'll be trekking across the UK with in search of wildlife!
