Events

The place to find all the information about events happening during Welcome Week 2025

We've put together a diverse programme of over 100 events so that there's something for everyone during Welcome Week.

Welcome Week events are designed to help students meet new people and make friends - setting you up for the year (and university future) ahead. Whether you're coming to our club night series or trying something new, we're certain there is an event for everyone.

We know students come from all different kinds of backgrounds with a whole range of interests and so we've tailored a programme with plenty of free, non-alcoholic, and just turn up without a ticket events. Most of our events will have student staff on hand if you have any questions about finding your feet in a new city, or for some of you - a new country.

We've also got loads of info about club nights (including which ticket pass you need) and how we help keep you safe on a night out here.

Tickets for some events go on sale later - including craft events and yoga. You can sign up for reminders about the next wave of event tickets, as well as tips on how to make the most of your Welcome Week!

We are closing out your Welcome Week with a big Freshers Finale at Document. You can view our full club night schedule here!

Ticket FAQs

How do I order event tickets?

Our events line-up will be released and tickets will go on sale, on A-Level Results Day (Thursday 14 August). This includes club night tickets!

You will then be able to purchase these tickets online on our website through a booking form.

Can you remind me when tickets go on sale?

Of course! Just fill in your details on our website and you'll be the first to know when each round of tickets goes on sale!

Are you selling wristbands this year?

If you'd like to get the best value for money from your club night tickets - you'll want to buy your Ticket Pass. This gets you entry to both your Official Opening and Closing Nights of Welcome Week - for just £21 + booking fee.

All other Welcome events are individually ticketed meaning you can mix and match events to design your perfect Welcome Week!

Anyone selling a 'wristband' is for an unofficial event and so we would advise being very cautious about purchasing these tickets.

What is a Ticket Pass and why should I buy one?

Bristol SU Ticket Passes are the best value way of buying your club night tickets along with everyone else living in your halls!

For £22 you'll get entry into TWO massive freshers club nights: either the Sunday 14th or Monday 15th at Electric (depending on your halls!) and the official Freshers Finale at Document on Thursday 18th Sept

This is the best value way to buy your ticket (saving you 20%); while also guaranteeing you'll be at the events the rest of your halls are going to!

Can I get a refund for a ticket I've bought?

As is standard at all venues, all event tickets are non-refundable.

I've seen a Bristol Freshers (or similar non SU seller) wristband / ticket / event advertised - is this legit.

Your official programme is on the Bristol SU website: https://www.bristolsu.org.uk/welcome

Anyone selling Welcome or Freshers tickets which aren't listed here are for unofficial events and so we would advise being very cautious about purchasing these tickets. Official events for University of Bristol freshers will be stamped with our logo, and will take place at venues on campus, and in a number of hand-picked and trusted venues which we have worked with for a number of years.

Promoters will use all sorts of sneaky tactics to encourage you to buy tickets for their events - which often turn out to be massively underwhelming - promising you way more than they will ever deliver. Key tactics include employing promoters to create fake profiles pretending to be new students who will infiltrate group chats and try and convince you everyone is going to their night. Some unofficial events will sell tickets in lots of different tiers (with very few tickets on each tier) so that events look like they're selling out way faster than they actually are.

If you're unsure, check out the university's Welcome page here, which directs straight to Bristol SU's events - as the only official event platform for your Welcome Week! Bristol SU is a charity which puts students first - securing great nights out which provide you with great value for money. Any income generated is then reinvested into the activities and services that we run all year for you - Bristol's students!

Can I buy Welcome tickets if I don't live in halls?

All Welcome tickets are open to all UOB students - no matter where you live, or what year you're in!

Do I need to collect my tickets?

No - we're trying to reduce paper use where we can! All tickets will be sent to you via email.

You will then need to show your tickets on your phone at the door of the event

When will events go on sale?

Our line-up will be released on Thursday 14 August, and all tickets will go on sale on this date too - including tickets for our club nights!

When will events sell-out?

Our Welcome events do usually sell out so to guarantee a place it's always best to buy a ticket in advance. Last year many events had sold out by the beginning of September. We will be selling limited tickets on the door - so if you missed out on a ticket in advance, pop down early.

Can I buy tickets on the door?

If the event hasn't sold out in advance you will be able to buy tickets on the door. Last year most of our events did sell out in advance though so we would always advise getting your ticket early to avoid disappointment! I'd like to buy a ticket for my friend who isn't at UoB. Is this possible?

No sorry, as much as we'd love to meet all of your mates, our events are for University of Bristol students only.

Once the programme is announced, each of our events will have accessibility information listed on the event page on our website. If you have specific questions you can contact bristolsu-events@bristol.ac.uk

Quiet Spaces

Throughout Welcome Week, we have two main spaces that people can use when they need to get away from the crowd for a while.

The Stephenson Room
The Stephenson Room is located on the 2nd floor of The Richmond Building, BS8 1LN, for use as a quiet room available for all events.

Bristol SU Sensory Room
Located in Bristol SU Living Room 2 on the 4th floor of Senate House. This room is accessible by U-Card only - access must be requested in advance by filling out the form on this webpage.

We also now have a Sensory Room in the Richmond Building! Opened in April 2025, the Richmond Building Sensory Room is located on the third floor on the South side of the building. The room features a variety of customisable LED lights, beanbags, weighted blankets, noise cancelling headphones and sensory toys! It has blackout blinds so you can choose whether you want natural light, colourful LED lighting or a dark room to relax in!
